The last film from a great director, this is an overlooked gem. At a time when sports films did not feature women, All The Marbles checks all the boxes for a great sports movie. Notably, the four women lead performers, especially Laurene Landon, did ALL their own stunts at blazing speed. The action is crisp, the story unique and Peter Falk gets a rare starring role.
If you are familiar with the great films of Robert Aldrich, including " and Kiss Me Deadly," “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?” and "The Dirty Dozen." you know he was a terrific director. In "The Longest Yard," starring Burt Reynolds, he lifted the sports story into a more meaningful context. He did the same with All The Marbles."
