The Man Who Killed Hitler and then The Bigfoot (2018) is an odd, but quite moving film. One should be forewarned about the title, because it doesn’t do justice to the film. Set aside that Calvin Barr, played in two eras by Sam Elliott (1980s) and Aidan Turner (1940s), does both of the killings, but that really isn’t the point of the movie. Both “actors” essentially make the movie, and young Sam’s romantic interest is also exceptional, Maxine (Caitlin FitzGerald). This is not a war movie and the violence is minimal and thought-provoking. The writer/director/producer Robert D. Krzykowski made a very nice film that has a lot of back and forth between times, and doesn’t bother to make anything chronological, yet it works. Of course, the movie was great because of the two(!) stars: Sam Elliott, who essentially played Sam Elliott, and Sally, who played Ralph. The latter wasn’t even a wrangled dog, but I crew member’s dog. They did have to be careful of her scenes so no one would suspect that the dog was female. Excellent film.

Good movie, but a strange storyline. If you are a Sam Elliott fan, you have to see this one!
Synopsis: Since WWII, Calvin Barr (Sam Elliott) has lived with the secret that he was responsible for the assassination of Adolf Hitler. Now decades later, the U.S. government has called on him again for a new top-secret mission. Bigfoot has been living deep in the Canadian wilderness and carrying a deadly plague that is now threatening to spread to the general population. Relying on the same skills that he hones during the war, Calvin must set out to save the free world yet again.
