Sennett's mastery of comic timing, improvisation and effective editing contributed to the enormous success of his films. In 1914 he produced Tillie's Punctured Romance, America's first feature-length comedy. The main building on the Edendale lot was the first fully-nclosed film stage in history. Sennett would win an Academy Award in 1932 for his short subject Wrestling Swordfish, and in 1937 was awarded a second Oscar 'for his lasting contribution to the comedy technique of the screen.'
