This show emulates the audio/visual science modules kids used to watch in classrooms in the 1970's. Except for one major thing. Everything you are learning is totally, completely incorrect (and incidentally hilarious.) Where do germs come from? Germany! I've watched this disc about ten times now.
Excellent production values and the electronic incidental music is great too. A very convoluted menu though, which adds to the amusement. Peter Serafinowicz' (currently playing The Tick on Amazon) quirky sense of humor shines through here. He's also done some ridiculous Star Wars and Alien skits in the past on 'The Peter Serafinowicz Show', which I think is only available in Region 2 format.
I played this for my Brother-in-law and 10 year old nephew a couple years ago. They're from Florida. My nephew is really intelligent, probably smarter than his father already. So we all sat there watching this. After each module, my nephew kept looking back at us with looks of deranged puzzlement and frustration. I just kept watching intently, as did my Brother-in-law. After 4 episodes my nephew couldn't take it anymore and left the room. My Brother-in-law, on the other hand, kept watching silently for about a couple hours until I'd played every feature on the Dvd. At this point he turns to me and says: "You know, if someone who didn't know anything watched this show, at the end of it they would be completely dumb. Like totally stupid."
There's a Season 2 of 'Look Around You' available, but only in Region 2 Dvd. It's not as funny though.
