"How many bands today could pull off this variation of music, let alone do them well? This dvd is worth the price just for the unique version of the kinks b-side "Who'll be the next in line", and a killer version of "Your gonna miss me".Yes, the 13'th floor elevators song. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Born in SW England, I bought "She's about a Mover" back in the early 60's--great little rocking 45--but who were the Sir Douglas Quintet.Since getting to Texas as fast as I could, thank you ex-wife,I have now been educated.
This DVD,as all the Austin City Limits releases by NewWest,is excellent both in sound and vision.Recorded January 1981,features Texas music greats Augie Meyers,Alvin Crow, and Dougs son on guitar--and as the time would suggest, they are all young,long-haired and lively. Doug could sing all the styles, pure country, blues, and the Tex-Mex sound that I love and he made famous when he joined and formed the Texas Tornados.
Doug passed away a few years back,he was Texas music, and we should all watch this release, flip a top, and enjoy--hey,thats what lifes all about."
Love it

"I have had no problems whatsoever ordering from Amazon and the vendors it lists. The vendor rating I find reassuring and it must be accurate for the books and DVDs I have so far ordered are shipped to me without a hitch. In great condition if a used edition, and as far as this Doug Sahm concert DVD; it is one of my prized possessions. If you are a fan, this is a concert that is thouroughly enjoyable from start to finish. Even though going on 30 years- the talent Doug Sahm had and the music the whole band at this performance played will entertain forever. It is a priceless performance. Doesn't get any better than this . If you like country, rock, pop, tex-mex, this man and Augie Meyers and the other guys playing here show their immense talent in this performance. Doug Sahm could play it all. While loved and appreciated I am sure by the many fans of The Sir Douglas Quintet, The Texas Tornadoes and the many performers he inspired in the Texas music scene and as a musician since a child, I still feel he was so very underrated and should have been in one of the Halls of Fame. A Doug Sahm Hill is being dedicated to him currently , in Austin, Tx., I believe. This man had enormous talent in music and it appears all who knew him loved him and learned and were greatly inspired by him. A musical genius!"
