The third installment of this franchise wisely chooses to retcon and ignore the events of Massacre 2 and reverts to being a relatively serious horror film. The good filmmaking decisions stop there. There are evidently a larger number of members in Leatherface's family that we were unaware of in the original film - apparently these people must be cousins that live in another part of Texas? The elaborate plots and efforts this family makes to eat human flesh in one of the most remote parts of the US is ridiculous, but not as ridiculous as the number of times these family members re-appear after supposedly being killed. The appearance of a pre-Aragorn Viggo Mortensen is perhaps the only bright part of this otherwise poorly conceived sequel, but that's a reach and certainly not worth sitting through the entire film.
