"Krystian Zimerman interpretations of these pieces are simply superlative and unique, I really wanted to watch this recital for so long, I knew Deutsche Grammophon Japan released this DVD some years ago but I could not find it at that time, now that it has just been re-released I am so happy I could finally add this fantastic performance to my collection.
The film is beautifully done with perfectly chosen camera angles and is a real pleasure to watch, the audio is perfect (DTS 5.1) and the picture quality is very good indeed (the recital took place in 1987), believe me that this DVD is an instant classic in every piano DVD collection.
This is the first time I see Krystian Zimerman playing on video, I was expecting a great recital but this performance absolutely surpassed my highest expectations, I was greatly impressed by his magnificent pianism and spellbinding interpretations of this wonderful piano music.

"This is a magnificent recital captured in beautifully recorded 5.1 surround sound. My benchmark in this repertoire has always been Rubinstein. Now we have Zimmerman who knows how to express the poetry, fire and soul in this music with self-effacing, consummate virtuosity. The program includes the 4 Ballades, the wonderful Fantasie in f# minor and the great f-minor Barcarolle, among others. I haven't listened to the Schubert yet, but my expectations are high. If you love Chopin, buy this DVD and immerse yourself in this gorgeous music. This one's a keeper!"
Magnificent

"Now, after 20 years we finally have a DVD with this magnificent recording. As always, Zimerman's recording is excellent and very few living pianists are able to match his pianism."
Superbly masterful and brilliant!

With this recital, Krystian Zimerman once more carves in relief the reason of his well deserved fame as supeb pianist and overwhelming colorist.
His Schubert is performed at superlative degree. The only pianist who rivalizes with him is Radu Lupu. On the other hand, his approach about Chopin is fresh, concise and expressive.
You should not hesitate or even blink at the moment to decide yourself to buy it. Acquire as soon as possible this formidable and radiant recital.
A must-have."
