"Wow......I never knew that behind all that leather and heavy Steppenwolf rock and roll was a guy with such emotion and an abundance of brain cells. This is not what I expected from John Kay, but was certainly better than I was anticipating. First off, check out the half hour interview with John Kay in the "extras" part of the CD ....it was fantastic. Kay shares his incredible history, influences and also demonstrates what a deep thinking man he is. His appreciation of his mother, wife, friends and this great country he immigrated to are inspirational, and his insights certainly add depth and a greater appreciation for the fan when listening to his music. Ballads, bluegrass, and some rock from an aging rock star who has improved (like a fine wine).......John Kay actually has something to say to the listener and though I was expecting more of a hard rock album, I definately was not disappointed in this DVD. What a stud at 60 years old........great voice, great messages, great man. Though it's not hard rock like you might expect....... it's better than you will expect. Take the time to listen to his interview too.........good stuff.
P.S. That dude on the mouth harp is super too."

"This dvd of John Kay is quality material. The man is is a huge talent in his own right. Acoustically, well done. He seems to enjoy playing his ballads and rockers with the same energy and sincerity as if they were done for the first time. Latch on to this concert------you will not be disappointed."
