"I am a big fan of Jimmy Smith, have been collecting his CD over past 10 years, this DVD was really made me upset cause the quality of sound and image was poor. Again, it is not worth to pay for it.

Only for the memories....

"The DVD format has brought a new musical and audible dimension to the serious music collectors, but still there are limited DVD's around of the great Hammond B-3 masters. "Live at the Florida Keys 1999" is the first available DVD of Jimmy Smith in colour, recorded together with rather average musicians and surprisingly lousy swinging drummer. With support from the Florida evening breeze, the concert takes us through Smith standards like "Moanin'", "St. Thomas and "Eight Counts for Rita" in trio format but nothing spectacular happens like you expect from Smith in live performance. Concert highlight though is "Tropchhic" with Nestor Torres latin group - great calypso organ playing from Smith. This concert is also partly available on CD's - "Daybreak" and "Black Cat". With 60+ CD's available today, many historic masterpieces, I stick to Smith in the CD format. Buy this DVD? After attending many superb Jimmy Smith concerts over the last 20 years, for me this DVD is only for the great live memories...."
