Movie Reviews

One of the top fitness instructors out there!

"I purchased this set at TJ Maxx for half the price Amazon has it listed for, and a month earlier then the official release date. I had never tried Jari Love's workouts before but couldnt resist the fast proven results claim on the back of this sets packaging. I got the dvd rotation suggestion off of her website forum so I am still on the Get Ripped routine and I have enjoyed it enough to keep with it. I did watch all three videos and they all look great. I have definately noticed more toning in my legs, thighs and butt - which is what I was hoping for. Jari Love is right up there with Cathe Friedrich in my opinion, but at a much more reasonable price! I would also say I am at a beginner/intermediate level and I have been able to handle the Get Ripped dvd. The other dvds look more challenging, as they should be so you work your way up. Jari recommends changing the number of reps or amount of weight used to keep your body guessing. Lots of great bonus features included also!"
Three excellent full-body endurance-style workouts!

"I recently discovered Jari Love's workouts, and I must say, I am very impressed! These are full-body, endurance style weight workouts, meaning that you will do only small number of overall exercises but a high number of repetitions for each exercise. However, unlike with other high-rep workouts, Jari encourages you to lift as heavy as possible, thus making it more likely that you will achieve great results in re-shaping your body.

There are several factors which make these workouts unique. First of all, Jari and her three background exercisers show different equipment options--eg, while Jari is using a barbell, another exerciser may be using dumbbells while yet another is using weight plates or even no weights. Furthermore, their individual weight loads also vary, and these numbers are very helpfully shown on screen at the start of every exercise. Then there is the variety in the exercises themselves. Although only a relatively small number of exercises are performed in each workout (around 12), to make it interesting, Jari is constantly varying the count. She often begins with a slow 4-4 count, moves to 3 up-1 down, then 2-2, etc. Although you will sometimes do over 50 repetitions of just one exercise, the varied counts make the time fly by.

Below are brief breakdowns of each of the three individual DVDs:

Get Ripped. This was the original Ripped workout, and it comes in at about 55 minutes. It is an excellent intermediate-level workout, but it would also be doable for beginners using little or no weights.

Slim & Lean. This second video is more challenging, coming in at just over an hour. Here Jari adds pulsing reps plus higher repetitions of some more challenging exercises, such as lunges and push-ups.

Ripped to the Core. The third video in the series and the first one to include compound exercises where you work the upper and lower body at the same time. There is a greater cardiovascular component, and I had to decrease my weight loads to compensate for this. This workout is just under an hour and includes a few extremely challenging plank-type moves.

If you are an intermediate-to-advanced exerciser looking to increase your endurance, Jari's straightforward, excellent workouts just might fit the bill."
Fabulous!!

"I love these dvd's. I was always under the impression that in order to challenge your muscles and continue to get results you just had to keep increasing the weight. I love using the lighter weights with more reps in these dvds. Yes it is taxing, but Jari's cuing is excellent and it makes it so easy to use good form and proper technique with her excellent timing, and just when you think you can't do one more rep the segment ends. I also like that there are 4 different people to "follow" - so this will work for everyone. I usually stay with Jari who doesn't do the ultra-difficult sets herself but still gives you an advanced but doable workout. There is still an easier version to follow or a tougher one if you don't feel challenged. Don't hesitate to get these workouts - If you like to do free weights at home and feel challenged, these dvd's are right up your alley."
Uncomplicated fitness!

"I was not really optimistic about this series because I HATE doing exercise videos that require you to follow complicated choreography. It takes you (or at least me) several weeks just to learn the steps and until then, you are not getting the full benefit. The Get Ripped DVD does not involve lots of complicated steps to learn, just weight training that raises your heart rate. I first rented this DVD to see what it was like (with skepticism) and was VERY impressed. There is a segment to watch before you start the video that shows you how to do all the weight movements, which I found VERY helpful -- that way I know I am doing them correctly. These people also seem very educated about fitness and the physiology of it and offer some unique aspects to working out. Use it to tone or just to vary your workout. GREAT!"
