"I just love this version of Jane Eyre with George C. Scott. I always remembered this from watching it many years ago, and was very surprised and pleased to see that it was out on DVD; I purchased it immediately. It did not disappoint, as was every bit as I had remembered it. The film has a very old quality to it, and is not perfect, but does not bother me, I like something that seems old and vintage. Exquisite version."
I still love this version!

"I have seen many versions of Jane Eyre and own a few, but this is still one of my favorites. The musical scores are wonderful. George C. Scott is just as I would imagine Mr. Rochester (Timothy Dalton-although I do love that version too-seems far to Hollywood handsome IMO). Susannah York may seem a bit old, but plays the role of Jane wonderfully! I seem to return to this version because of the scenes at Lo wood when Jane was a child. Other movies I have seen seem to portray that as such a nice cheerful place and I don't see it as such. In this movie, the place looks like a charitable institution and the girls are treated like charity cases. Yes I have read the book and if I want the story to read exactly like the book-I'll just read the book again! I gave this a 4 because there are pieces missing from this dvd-wonder why that is?. The quality of the dvd is poor, but no worse than the vhs which I own and have watched to death."
