Member Movie Reviews![]() Reviewed on 1/20/2024... Weird in its own way. ![]() Reviewed on 5/6/2022... That unique Wes Anderson flavor but at a pace i found slightly tedious. Not animation for typical child audiences that's for sure. 0 of 1 member(s) found this review helpful. ![]() Reviewed on 3/19/2019... this film is pure, beautiful, *potently* tender, precious work of art. so much love in this film, so much incredible acknowledgement of the overwhelming and powerful love wrapped into the buoyant, resilient, loyal, exuberant, love-filled package of a being called CANINE. I can't even explain how dear this film is to me. It is the story of hard-won victory of the under-dog....and of one boy's love and search for his best friend, it is so beautifully told, and so much incredible work went into it by SO many skilled artists -- take note, this is no CG-movie, not that those are less-than, but this film took *years* to make, every single scene taking countless hours, each clay model moved slightly, picture taken, moved/part exchanged/ picture taken. Claymaytion is an incredible art driven by love and brilliance. This in my view may be Wes Anderson's best work of art...also the art of dozens of the artists who created it with him --- but more than that is the beauty of the story, and the love that went into creating these rich characters. I saw one review that bashed it because of the content where dogs were treated badly, but -- look around, wake up, people all the time prove themselves horrible to dogs - this is a reality. And this film is a story of the dogs and the dog-loving humans winning. it is so intricate, you can even see the wind moving the dogs' hair, tiny magnificent details that make this film such a magical work of art I am disgusted and shocked that it did not win the Oscar... not that the spiderman one wasnt' good, but ho-ly-cow, this one deserved it so much more. I have so much love for this film. 3 of 4 member(s) found this review helpful.
