"This dvd is everything and more than I could ask for in a Polynesian instructional dance dvd. It covers both aspects of Polynesian dance: the dynamic, fast Otea and the slow, expressive Aparima. Tumata explains every move extremely well and Moena demonstrates every move thoroughly. You will learn not only the basics but, also, the foot and arm movements that go with each move.
This is not a hula/polynesian dance workout dvd like the ones by Kili - which are great workouts but not so good for learning the dance itself. This dvd is devoted solely to learning the fundamentals of Polynesian dance and it is a must have for anyone interested in this form of dance.
The settings are lovely and the music sublime. Besides, at over 70 minutes in length, you get a lot quality dance instruction for a very low price, Well done, Miles Copeland, well done!!!!!"

"This DVD teaches all of the basic steps and hand movements needed for Polynesian dance. It is easy to follow and explains in detail how to move your hands and feet properly - clear and simple. Learning the hand movements will be most helpful in the translation of other dances you might view and will help you to create a proper dance to almost any song. It is 100% devoted to learning Polynesian dance - no workout. I would highly recommend this DVD to anyone who is unable to find dance classes locally, as you will be able to use this DVD at home with much success."

Disappointed

"I was very disappointed. The tape really only teaches 2 hip moves. All the other hip moves she just tells you what the other girl is doing but doesn't actually explain how to do it. She just basically tells you what each move is called. I would ask for my money back if I could. It was a big let down for me..."

"This DVD is about as close as you will get to the authentic way to dance Tahitian without being in Tahiti. This woman is a skilled instructor that knows the REAL way to dance Tahitian. She has been apart of one of the most creative groups in Tahiti, so she knows exactly what she is talking about. This is definitely a very informative video teaching the essence of basic Tahitian motions and movements. I highly recommend this video if you would like to learn the basics of Tahitian don't buy that other video Tahitian cardio workout. It is not a realistic video it's not even a Tahitian dance video. A wise person once told me if you want learn Tahitian dance learn it from a Tahitian.
