Had great potential with the creepy factor but Lieutenant Dan Taylor was unable to save the ship from sinking.

I'm generally on-board for any translations of Phillip K Dick's work into film. This one is generally faithful to the story in overall plot, but unfortunately is marred by poor directing and scripting/concept. For example, Sinise is on the run from the cops whilst being chased in a domed city that has been under siege for 30-40 years by aliens. . . so he escapes through a series of tunnels under the city that are large enough to drive a tank through with apparently no guard or military presence anywhere in sight. These old tunnels (subway? even bigger) are apparently so poorly watched that he manages to re-enter the city with another guy to steal some medical supplies - again unchallenged by anyone from the besieged government of the city. Why the Centauris waste their time with bombing the electro dome versus just dropping a battalion of soldiers off outside the city for easy-entry is beyond me. This and other unexplainable "escapes" turn the movie into a kind of time waster as the viewer waits for the ending that was expected about 9 minutes into the movie. Tony Shaloub is barely in the movie and could have literally been any actor for all that he does.
