Chomsky is back, contesting official versions of history and today?s news in two powerful two-hour talks and a 45-minute interview! While each piece stands alone, they also complement one another to provide both a far-rang... more »ing view of world politics and a glimpse into Chomsky?s personal political beliefs that is both entertaining and informative. In ?Imperial Grand Strategy,? a lecture given at the University of Manchester, Chomsky takes on the war in Iraq. He cuts through the ideological fog that surrounds the invasion and occupation, laying waste to the US government?s justifications for them. In the process, he uncovers the real motivations behind US military aggression: a global imperial plan put in place long before Iraq?and that will extend far into the future, unless we do something about it. ?The Assault on Freedom and Democracy,? delivered at Merrimack College, moves from broad, geopolitical concerns to the sort of authoritarian societies needed ?on the ground? for such imperial strategies to work. Discussing the Patriot Acts (1 and 2) at home and a long and disgraceful US history of ?democracy-building? abroad, Chomsky highlights the vast difference between noble rhetoric and our consistent military and economic support for dictators and thugs. The DVD ends with ?Questions About Anarchism,? an interview with Barry Pateman of the Emma Goldman Archives. In a more relaxed and personal exchange, Chomsky discusses the anarchist principles that have guided him since he was a teenager and that lie behind the social and political analysis he?s been producing for the last four decades. Noam Chomsky is one of the world?s leading intellectuals, the father of modern linguistics, an outspoken media and foreign policy critic, and tireless activist. He lives in Boston, Massachusetts.« less

"Imperial Grand Strategy: The Conquest Of Iraq And The Assault On Democracy from Noam Chomsky is a provocative collection of a complete and informative collection of two powerful lectures and a forty-five minute interview with Chomsky himself on the political perspectives and paradigm-altering concepts of history and the ideological constructs of the great mind, Imperial Grand Strategy offers Noam Chomsky's personal comprehension of the philosopher, as well as an endlessly fascinating grasp of the political and societal constructs which are fueling the war from America as well as the U.S.'s disgraceful history of manifest-destiny in democracy creation abroad. Imperial Grand Strategy is recommended as a simply outstanding collection of remarkable ideals and principles from Noam Chomsky's accomplished and respected works.

"We live in a popular culture dominated by career-building egomaniacs. What a refreshing change to hear a measured evaluation of a subject conducted by a reflective person who reaches selectively into a vast supply of historical knowledge! It's as if we were listening to a voice from the last five hundred years of trial-and-error.
For these reasons, Chomsky may be my favorite living analyst . I'd vote for him to be our philosopher-king!"
Chomsky: unparalled.

"Noam Chomsky shows once again his lucidity concerning the affairs related to the U.S. foreign policy. And, even being in England, he criticizes Tony Blair. Chomsky's broad understanding of the opression of the people in the third world makes him a true humanist compareble to Thomas More. No wonder he is the most important intellectual alive."

"Noam Chomsky continues to be the best source of information and inspiration for people who know the media are so corrupt that they rarely report the important stories. And he always points out our ability and opportunity to non violently influance our government. No revolution necessary. Hard work works! And Chomsky tells us a lot about what to do"
