This aired a few years back on the Syfy channel, and I was really intrigued to see this show, as I'd thoroughly enjoyed Ronald D. Moore's take on Battlestar Galactica. Helix does not disappoint. This is hardcore scifi. This is the Evil Empire aka Corporate America pushing boundaries and science way too far. It deals with current hot topics like biological warfare, genetic engineering, plagues, and immortality.

This first season is icily claustrophobic. Jeri Ryan is wickedly impressive as the main protagonist. Lots of zombie type action. One can turn most any direction nowadays and find oneself beholden to some sort of zombie, it seems. I really wish the producers had chosen a different direction when it came to the manifestation of vector symptomatology. Like something that hasn't been done before, which should have been an easy task, considering the writing talent.

There is a lot more to this show than meets the eye. It is something one experiences. Both seasons, especially the second are ineffably convoluted. The second season (which I think is the best) felt like more of a global abstract creation than anything linear. The viewer is thrown for concurrent loops. And there are some absolutely unbelievable scenes along the way. It's all very involving, and you may find yourself binging these episodes, each of which represents a single day of events.
