A Heavenly Vintage centers on a winemaker striving to craft the perfect vintage, and a visit by an angel. Already, we are in the realm of magical realism, and unusual genre for New Zealand. The story is quite compelling unfolding over seasons of caretaking of growing vines and tasting the earth. There is also romance and a little homoeroticism thrown into the mix; that was nearly off putting, but there it is. Still an engaging film worth a watch.
