Movie Reviews

HIM - Video Collection:1997-2003
*The Sireness* | USA | 12/21/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"(...) My dvd sounded EXCELLENT. As a matter of fact, of all the dvd's I have, the HIM Video Collection is the one with the BEST sound quality I even ever heard. Enough said. So I will go to amazon.com and leave a positive 5 star review so people know that the audio is excellent. Not even the Evanescence dvd I just bought "Anywhere but home" sounds as great as the HIM dvd.

As for the videos, I'm happy I won't have to look at them in the internet anymore. I can watch it on tv. I just wish it had ALSN in it I love that video.

The Making of's are freaking super hilarious I have seen them before in the internet, but nothing is better then watching them in the comfort of your home, in a big screen and high volume All I have to say is that I laughed my butt off all threw the night. Bam has got to me the funniest guy in the world. There were even scenes added that i had not seen on the internet before

The interrogation was AWESOME. Ville was talking and everything and I felt like a 10 year old schoolgirl gushing over him. It looks like it took place when they were making the Solitary Man video. Anyway, great dvd, I am happy and ect.

There is an egg in the DVD

Go to Interrogation, after Bam finishes speaking, Jimmy Pop appears again for the 2nd time. Right when Jimmy is saying "We both blown pagan bikes squads" click "enter" on your remote control. Right then and there it will take you to the egg. I will describe the scene. First thing you see is Ville laughing his butt off. The scene takes place in Bam's house, there in that skateboard rail thing in his room, Jimmy Pop is wearing Spongebob Squarepants underwear, and he is trying to skateboard 'Bam style'. So Jimmy is in his underwear, Ville is laughing because Jimmy is trying to skatboard and he just falls on his butt Then the camera goes to Ville's face and Ville makes a comment about the Spongebob Squarepants, and the scene goes to Bam and Jimmy trying to skateboard together. Looks very gay but funny. Of course, Bam and Jimmy fall on their butts, and Ville is sitting down laughing hard. Ville's hair is tied back, he's wearing a green scarf. Jenn is there, and the whole Viva La Bam bunch.

The only complaint I have is that the words in the menu bar are really small. I had to get my reading glasses to read the menu. I remember someone saying that In amazon.com but I thought they were kidding. Not kidding. The letters are really small.

But other then that, excellent dvd. Really happy with it.

Good solid DVD

"This DVD contains most of HIM's videos from their album Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666, to Love Metal. It DOES NOT contain the two videos from the greatest hits album (And Love Said No, Solitary Man), but they sucked anyway. Also contain's Bam Margera's, ''making of's,'' for Buried Alive By Love, and The Sacrament.

Videos:

Wicked Game

When Love And Death Embrace

Join Me (Ice Version)

Right Here In My Arms

Poison Girl

Gone With The Sin

Pretending

In Joy And Sorrow

Heartache Every Moment

Close To The Flame

Buried Alive By Love

The Sacrament

The Funeral Of Hearts"

"ATTENTION ALL HIM FANS: THIS IS NOT A BOOTLEG, THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR!

This DVD is excellent, it contains all of HIM's music videos throughout the first 6 years of their career. If you're like me and wanna see HIM videos and live in the U.S., then you're gonna need this, because you certainly won't see HIM on MTV. It contains the videos for: "Buried Alive By Love", "The Funeral Of Hearts", "The Sacrament", "Pretending", "In Joy And Sorrow", "Heartache Every Moment", "Right Here In My Arms", "Join Me In Death", "Gone With The Sin", "Poison Girl", "Wicked Game" and "When Love And Death Embrace". All of the videos are filled with great images and are excellent, they fit right with the music. Some fans complained that the sound quality on this DVD is bad, but I've already played it on 3 different TVs and it always sounds fine to me. Just to clarify for some of you, this IS in fact an official release from HIM. The back of the DVD contains both the Universal Records logo (the band's U.S. label) and the FBI Anti-Piracy logo.

Also featured on this DVD, are 2 "behind the scenes" segements...one for "Buried Alive By Love" and the other for "The Sacrament". Both segments are very interesting and very funny, as we get to see the band goof around with director (and ultimate HIM fan) Bam Margera. If you own the CKY videos or any other Bam Margera videos, you'll enjoy these segments. There is yet another feature on here: some "interrogation footage" of Ville Valo, Bam Margera and Jimmy Pop. We get to learn what influenced the band, what inspires their songs, how Bam discovered the group and brought them to the U.S., and why Jimmy Pop signed them. For what it is, I am 100% satisfied with this DVD, I recommend it for all HIM fans!"
This is only to clarify what others have yet to....

"Ok, first things first. This dvd is the only authorised dvd in the USA of HIM, not counting the recent Wings of a butterfly dvd-single. I purchased this dvd when it was first released and the reason it does not contain the "And Love Said No" & "Solitary Man" videos is because those tracks were released until shortly after this dvd was released. I have quite a number of official & un-official HIM dvd releases from all over the world and this is the only release that contains the Long version of "When Love & Death Embrace". The Quality is that of VHS videos, so no one was lying about that. The Audio is a bit muffled but it is still decent for a 2-channel music dvd release. Also to note, This dvd is the only release with the uncensored HIM/BAM segments. On the UK releases the segments are butchered and bleeped out and the whole hotel porno movie scene is covered up. So, even though this dvd is by no means perfect is does contain material not available anywhere else. So take it for what it is, if you are a worldwide HIM collector of any kind, it is definitely worth the money. Also, look around on the web for the Uncensored Wicked Game video. That's about it. Thanks for hearing me out."
