Get Your Fix, Get Your Kicks
Hawkshadow | Sterling Heights, MI USA | 03/10/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"If it is possible to wear out a CD, I'm well on the way. This DVD has it all, the live concert, videos, interviews with the band, and 'home' movies. The concert gives you an idea what to expect when you actually get to a Great Big Sea show (wear comfortable shoes and roomy clothes). At GBS shows you don't sit in your seat, you only rent it until GBS hits the stage then you take to your feet for the entire concert. I've bought several copies of the DVD to initiate friends and family--and every single person was instantly hooked, although I had to explain Donkey Riding was not about riding donkeys, and define some unusual Newfoundland expressions in other song lyrics. While you are waiting for the guys to have show anywhere near you, this is your fix until you have the honor to see them live. GBS puts on the best show I have ever seen."
Almost as good as their live shows

"Great Big Sea is not truly appreciated unless you see them live but this DVD is the next best thing. I would almost recommend it as a an excercise video because you can't be still while watching. You just want to dance and sing along. I'd heard a few of their CDs but never seen them live at the time I bought this DVD and now I feel like I am watching old friends. Their musicality is remarkable and this brings that out as they do acoustic and electrified sets as well as a capella harmony. Unless you're an old fuddy duddy that doesn't want to smile, get this, you won't regret it"
No difference?

"I was a quick convert to GBS love, and the second CD I bought (after "Up") was the double-disc Great Big CD/DVD. While it came in a regular double-CD case instead of a glossy DVD case, the DVD itself seems to be the very same as this one. It has the same live concert footage, the music videos, the karaoke, and fun band stuff. Unless you desperately want the spiffy DVD case, I'd REALLY recommend buying the CD/DVD double set instead of this item. If you DO decide to purchase this, you'll still absolutely love the band's quality music, contagious sense of fun and enthusiasm, and the astonishingly catchy lyrics. Way hey and away we go!"
Great Big DVD

"I ran accross this group by accident, but it was a MOST FORTUNATE accident. Great Big Sea is infectious, getting deep into your heart and soul. I have spent this summer listening to all of their albums and have enjoyed every one of them (although the live stuff is best). I am of Irish descent and I was searching for something new. Although they are from Newfoundland (not Irish), their music is very similiar and very enjoyable. I just can't quit listening to it...I am addicted to Road Rage and the Great Big DVD. I cannot reccommend thieir music highly enough!"
