"Gil looks frail, and he speaks with a lisp, (maybe) due to a couple of missing teeth, bottom left side. But, from the time he starts the show, his performance is riveting, soulful, and vintage Gil Scott-mutha***-Heron! He captures the attention, ear, and devotion of both the audience in attendance, as well as the audience viewing the DVD. Get it- you won't regret it!"
Buy this for Prosperity

"This concert was filmed in 2001, and considering that Gil looks to be in poor physical and dental health, and considering that he has continued to suffer from his self-destructive behavior (drug dependency), this DVD could be his final testament. Buy it if for no other reason than that. The truth is that the Amnesia Express on this DVD is a stripped down version of the full band Gil toured with in the early 1990s, and the sound pales in comparison, not to mention any comparison to the Midnight Band (Brian, Gil needs you). A few people may be lucky to own the laserdisc concert Gil recorded with the "complete" Amnesia Express in London in 1990. If not, you can hear the audio on CDs recorded in that era. Also, look for the difficult-to-find "Black Wax" DVD and check out recent video performances of Gil on the Internet, as well as his passionate rendering of "We Almost Lost Detroit" on the 1980 MUSE concert DVD. With minor exceptions, Gil hasn't put out any new material since "Spirits" in 1994. Let's pray the friendly spirits cure Gil of his demons."
Groove with Gil

"I have searched for Gil Scot Heron DVDs for awhile. I was looking for a sound close to "Its Your World" (Excellent live CD. True Gil is getting older and yes, looks hard, but this is a good groove DVD. I got it yesterday and I am on my 4th consecutive viewing. The bad is grooving right along and the bass player is outstanding. All in all I recommend this DVD if you like watching good concerts and even remotely like Gil."
