Movie Reviews

AWFUL!

"I own volumes 1-3 in this series and I'd avise you to pass this one up! Yes, it does deliver a fair number of ghost stories and it tells you the history behind them... a bit too briefly. The last reviewer compared it to the tv show "unsolved mysteries", in a way he's right. Patrick Mcknee hosts the dvd much the way Robert stack hosted unsolved mysteries but UNLIKE unsolved mysteries the story is NOT usually acted out. I love a good ghost story, but if I'm watching it on tv or dvd, I want to see ALL the detail that comes from "witnessing" the actors telling the ghost's tale in accurate costumes of that era. I feel it makes you, the viewer, feel almost as if you could've been there! On a visual medium, like a television screen, I'd say that's important. On the rare occasion that a story IS acted out, it's usually very brief (a few minutes at best) and so carelessly done it's almost insulting.

In further comparison, Patrick Mcknee hosts these dvd's with an almost uptight & uninterested tone. I first saw him on the Haunted Castles (series) of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales (once on discovery channel) where he seemed much more relaxed and even interested in the stories he told, so seeing this dvd was a big let-down.

I wish I HADN'T bought this dvd. It's definitly not worth paying more then $15.00 for, or $20.00 (for the set) if you're feeling generous!"

""I've seen Ghost Stories' vol.s 2,3, and 4" "volume 2 kept me up all night, after the parts where this couple get a human skull with rancehorns as a candle holder that gave them bad luck such as there electricity going out and cars crashing in front of there house, then the Willow Steakhouse Saloon Hotel that burnt down many times, then Tommy Knockers sending Morse code as a warning, one guest was in the womens room, and she hears evil laughing, then she comes back to the Willow and has her picture taken and the photo shows Satin in the background, and the owner gets ready to close up, when he sees a set of red eyes staring in at him, it's one of the best Ghost Stories I've ever seen.""
