I love George Carlin! Everyone is giving this high marks, but I like him better in the later years when he went on rants about politics and society. What I did enjoy about this special was the beginning when he showed pictures of himself as a kid and gave funny captions about them and when he acknowledged his wife/producer at the end.

One of Carlin's greatest performances

"This is Carlin's second HBO performance and, in my opinion, is one of the highlights of his brilliant and influential career. I personally prefer the early part of his career when he was comedy was genuinely insightful. Within the past several years, his performances have had a tendency to become grievance-driven rants. It's a kind-of "grumpy old man" persona that simply doesn't appeal to me.

As many comedy fans already know, Carlin was an absolute genius when his comedy focused on the use of language. And "The Seven Dirty Words" section is clearly the shining moment in this performance. If you want to experience Carlin in his prime, then this is an essential purchase."

"Watching these shows now after his untimely death, I appreciate them even more. Not only are they funny, they are completely engrossing as you watch a master at work! Although this is not a personal favorite, it's still a great set! Like a fine wine, George got better with age and there were better set to come. Well worth buying!

R.I.P. George

You will be missed."

"This is some of his early work around the time he hosted the first SNL, so this is his cocaine sniffing great comedy days and I bet this is all that needs to be said about this man."
