One of the first movies produced about our bad healthcare system. Meryl Streep is the mother of a young boy who is diagnosed with an "untreatable" disease. She searches for answers and finds that it's our healthcare system that is defective, not her son.
I've always said that we pay our doctors backward. We should pay them every day that we are WELL, not when we get SICK! What is the incentive for them to make you well if they get paid when you are sick? Think about it...doesn't that make more sense? We freely take our healthcare provider's word on everything and never ask about the cost beforehand. When was the last time you bought something BEFORE knowing the cost? At the grocery, you know the cost before you pay for it. At the car repair, they give you an estimate before you get your car repaired...but not with healthcare!

This is one of the best movies that I have ever seen in depicting the truth of our healthcare rights as parents and also shows that there are other options to any disease. Meryl Streep is amazing and Fred Ward is compelling as they struggle to help their child. This movie opens the dialogue on some troubling issues in medical bureacracy. Also, pretty family friendly for older kids.

My grandson wanted me to purchase this movie since we watched it together on tv and he found it to be very interesting and was so happy when the mother did everything and researched every means to help her son's health get better.
