The concept isn't exciting, but economically, this is an excellent deal. It would be more expensive to buy these DVD's individually, and there really isn't any filler either. "The Verdict" and "The Hustler" are not only two of Newman's best performances, their two of his best films, even better than "Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid," which is probably his most popular movie and is still entertaining decades later. Paul Newman's easily one of Hollywood's best actors of the last 50 years, and this is an efficient way to scoop up a good chunk of his work." What a treat A. Actually I think Paul Newman's performance is better in these 3 movies than in some of his pot-boilers like Cat On a Hot Tin Roof or The Long Hot Summer (where his performances seem stiff and over-acted). In the Hustler, Jackie Gleason proves he is as fine a dramatic actor as any of his time and has a true reason for his reported "swelled head".
