5 Top-drawer noirs in one inexpensive set

"Two of these top-drawer film noirs have been circulating for years as part of substandard public domain packs - The Hitchhiker and Scarlet Street. The other three have been previously available as individual titles from Kino, but quite expensive when sold separately. "Contraband" and "They Made Me a Fugitive" are examples of more rarely seen British film noirs. "Strange Impersonation" involves a number of themes that are more common to horror movies than to noir, and involves unknown actors and actresses, but a well known director - Anthony Mann.
My favorite of the bunch is the now remastered "Scarlet Street" starring Edward G. Robinson. Robinson was in some of the best noirs of the 40's and 50's including "Woman in the Window", which has also been recently released on DVD. Definitely a worthwhile purchase and also quite economical."
