The Ultiimate Chronicle of the Great Dodgers Tradition! From the moment they became a part of everyday life in Brooklyn, the Dodgers were something special. Night after night they battled, winning the hearts of fans both ... more »young and old. But then they would face the Yankees in the World Series, and "Dem Bums" would break those very same hearts. "Wait until next year" became the mantra in Brooklyn ? and following five gut-wrenching World Series losses to those Yankees, "next year" finally came in 1955 when the Dodgers became world champions. Two seasons later, the team moved to Los Angeles, where in 1959 they again captured the title. The days of Pee Wee Reese, Duke Snider and Jackie Robinson gave way to Sandy Koufax, Maury Wills and Don Drysdale ? and two more championships followed in 1963 and ?65. Fernandomania rocked Los Angeles in the early ?80s ? and both Valenzuela and Steve Garvey helped lead the Dodgers to still another title in ?81. Then came the magical season of 1988 when Orel Hershiser rewrote the record books ? and Kirk Gibson simply wrote a fairy tale. These are the championship years. Bonus Features:
"The Dodgers will always be the poor step child of the Yankees....
the Yankees world series years are represented in singular DVD packages...as they should be ....there is plenty of information for such. The Dodgers 7 world championships and 4 pennant seasons are all compressed into a bit more than an hour? Talk about ADD....I think they mentioned something about a guy named Sandy Koufax at one point...but it all happened so fast!
Seriously....90 minutes or 2 hours would have been a bit more appropriate to represent 30 years..
and yeah....GAGNE on the cover?? Did I miss his championship and world series appearance? that's right....they show him on the cover but NOT Orel Hershieser...a bonafide World Series MVP! Its that kind of attention to detail and marketing ploy that is behind this ...."teaser" of a DVD...
any Dodger fan will want to have it....but goodness.....it could have been so much more!"
Good stuff, but more like a teasing taste than a full meal.

"I tend to agree with the other reviewer here: this is criminally short.
ALL of the Dodgers World Series and League Championships covered in less than an hour?
Impossible. The early years feel slighted...Koufax and Drysdale get the same amount of time as the fabulous infield of the late 70's. Hey, I loved Garvey, Lopes, Cey and Russell...there were "my guys" when I was young...but condensing the epic efforts of those two pitchers into a few minutes is almost insulting.
This almost felt like a preview for a real documentary, coming some time in the future...and wouldn't THAT be great!
However, to be fair, what we have here is some exceptional footage and good reporting of my beloved Dodgers. The bonus footage of the Hall of Fame acceptance speeched is a classy touch, and make sure you take the time to listen to Lasorda's. It alone is worth the price of the disc.
There is something to be said by wanting more. I understand that. But you'd at least want to be somewhat satisfied...satiated.
I guess I want "Dodgerography"...and all I have now is a tease. I'm still 'way hungry."
Great, great, great!

"As a lifelong Dodger fan I was nearly moved to tears. This is the best baseball DVD I've seen so far (outside Ken Burns PBS series.)

"Some fans are complaining about the shortness of the Dodger Blue Championship dvd, so I decided to put in a good word for the *MLB* Vintage Dodger Championship Years dvd. The producers did an overall good job and they especially sank their teeth into the highlights of the incredible '88 Dodger World Series victory. LOTS of the great Vin Scully in that one too, plus post-game interviews with Hershieser and Kirk Gibson... I never get tired of seeing Gibson trot around the infield and pumping his right arm in satisfaction after his pinch hit homer... I was satisfied as a long time Dodger fan with the dvd. But it would have been nice to include the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers win over the Yanks. That one was a long time comin'. Anyway, I rate it as a strong 4 and it's a TWO dvd set, much more than an hour to try to cram everything in, even though the dvd isn't a general history of the Dodgers from the beginning. For fans who want to savor more than an hour of Dodger glories, they might like the MLB Vintage Dodger dvd better. You get to see to Koufax and Drysdale at their best!"

"A great trip down memory lane with highlights of the Dodgers' greatest moments. Who can forget Fernandomania, Kirk Gibson's, historic pinch hit homer, Koufax & Drysdale , The Boys Of Summer The First World Series title won in LA?
Recommended viewing for all Dodger and students of Baseball history!"
