2008 series produced in South Africa. Star studded cast, who all send in great performances. Viewer beware, however, that this is a fictionalized, comic strip version of the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. If it is a history lesson you are expecting, look elsewhere. So as not to introduce many spoilers, I will not list all the inaccuracies. This being said, the brief bit of English history from 1639 to 1651 is of interest to us in our current times.
In the Wars of the Three Kingdoms (which included the English Civil War) the seeds were planted for the Anglo-American world power which exists today. The voice of the people was heard and consummated in the trial and execution of a despotic king. Clay-like components of this world have since been at war, in one form or another, with iron-like components.
"The Devil's Mistress" is a stripped down 190 minute version of the original four episode series, which was entitled "The Devil's Whore" (which was 215 minutes long.) A sequel to this production was aired in 2014 in the form of "New Worlds" which ran four 50 minute episodes.
