"i loved this movie from the start. got it on vhs as soon as it was released. every year since i started collecting dvds, i have searched this title. FINALLY, it is out on dvd and i don't have to run off a copy from my vhs, plus it has wonderful extras!
ryan black and rest of the cast do a great job presenting 'the rez' in the present. as a story about two guys trying to get off 'the rez' by going to school on scholarship (to be mechanics), it shows how hard it is to even try!
and after watching this darker movie, try the slightly lighter side, by getting the series, 'the rez', also starring ryan black, which is both funny and depressing at the same time.

"The journey the young actors take during this movie is, at times, humorous and, other times, heartbreaking.
Wonderfully acted. Chemistry of all the characters is beautifully portrayed by an extremely talented cast.

"Pow Wow Highway held the rank of #1 Indian Cult favorite for the last decade plus, but this is so good I had to buy a second tape since I wore out the first one and now am looking for a copy in DVD. GREAT movie! It gets better every time you watch. I recommend sharing it with friends."

"although it has been a while since this movie came out, it's view into the lives of youth on the rez still remains fairly current. the excellent acting is a wonderful exercise of 'under acting, which lures you farther into the tale with no over the top distractions. this is a ride through a rez with an outstanding twist at the end. i would rate this movie: total NDN."

"I first saw this sometime in the 1990s, and after renting it at least once per year since, finally decided to buy a copy. It is a lower-budget film, but so well done that the story transports the viewer to the point that you forget the beginning premise. The acting is superb. I highly recommend this!"
