I've been doing short 10-20 minute workouts like this for the past several months, and this DVD was a great fit for me. The leader was easy to follow. She broke down each dance segment into three sections: slowly without arms to learn the footwork and then added arms, second the tempo increased, and in the third section the tempo increased even more. It was fun to try to do it even faster. The steps that the leader chose made it easy to increase or decrease the intensity by adding bigger arm motions or omitting them altogether. There is also an additional 10 minute workout to do.
I liked that there was a group of women, not just a single instructor. It was nice that they had ladies of various levels of fitness and a variety of body types, as opposed to a group of very expert, muscular women making me feel inferior and questioning why I don't look like that after my 15 minute workout was done :-) I also appreciated that the women were dressed modestly, and that while there was hip swinging, it wasn't done in a provacative way. This is a workout that I would feel comfortable doing with my daughters. Overall, I really liked it.

Not for everyone

"The description says it "takes the work out of workouts" so I imagined that the dances would be easy to learn. I'd say they aren't. And the music is more like drum machine beats, no fun songs.
I bought this with my mom in mind, and it was way too complicated and fast for her. She is 58 years old and is active and excercises, but she doesn't have any dance training in her past. I think this video would be fine for anyone young and coordinated, who is quick on their feet, but it isn't appropriate for others."

"I was looking for a program that was different from other aerobic workouts and this one sounded fun. However, it turned out to be like most aerobic classes. I was disappointed that it was not really more dance focused. I bought the Quick Fix Cardio Hip-Hop workout video featuring Juliane Arney at the same time I bought Dance Off. The Quick Fix video is fun and is teaching this 40something woman some new moves. Outstanding!"

"I recently recieved the video, "Dance off the inches" featuring Lydia Haskell, as a gift from a girlfriend. She thought that it would be prefect for me since it only takes 15-20 minutes to complete, and I am a busy mother with 3 children. At first I was hesitant to try the video because I had not worked out for several months, but I decided to try it one afternoon when the children were napping, I am now hooked. I find that the dance moves are easy to follow, and the music is upbeat that I actually look forward to working out. Lydia is so motivating and she is excellent at teaching the dance steps so I could follow them. I would highly recommend this video to anyone who is looking for a fun, fast way, to sneak in a great workout.
Sincerely, Laurie R
