"Muriel Anderson's concert took place at the Wild Horse Saloon in Nashville, Tennessee, in July 2000. (Some of the proceeds go to the "Music for Life Alliance" and other good causes. More information about this semi-annual event at www.allstarguitarnight.com.) The guitarists played a range of styles and sounds, with either acoustic or electric guitar. Many played solo guitar while some guitarists played with backup musicians.Songs:
"Hometown," - Muriel Anderson;
"Becca's Bounce" -- Steve Fairclough;
"Mr. Guitar My Friend" -- Thom Bresh;
"Saudade" -- Michael Chapdelaine;
"Classical Gas" -- Tommy Emmanuel;
"Lady's Night" - Preston Reed;
"Strawberry Fields Forever" -- Laurence Juber;
"Angelina Baker" - Muriel Anderson;
"All Blues" -- Mitch Watkins;
"Dance with Me" -- Nokie Edwards;
"Impressions" - Stan Lassiter;
"Cannonball Rag" -- Thom Bresh & Buster B. Jones;
"Flying Home" -- Stanley Jordan; "Seymour's Blues" -- Seymour Duncan;
"Workin' Man Blues" -- Brent Mason;
"Vincent" -- Muriel Anderson & Tommy Emmanuel.All songs are directly available through track or menu. "All Star Guitar Night" is recorded in stereo. The mode is full screen rather than widescreen. The audio and video quality is acceptable. Although I prefer high definition, DTS concerts, this concert is not to be missed! "Muriel Anderson: All-Star Guitar Night Concert" is a chance to hear some great guitar music and see good close-ups of the guitar playing. There is very little talking, singing or even applause! One musician finishes, and the dvd cuts to the next musician on stage ready to play. Tommy Emmanuel played a very energetic "Classical Gas". Stanley Jordan was terrific, of course. I played Preston Reed's "Ladies Night" over and over again! Mitch Watkins playing "All Blues" and Seymour Duncan on "Seymour's Blues" made me get up and dance! If you love guitar music, then I highly recommend this DVD."
