Good product for understanding modes and their use

"Although I never thought much about it, I was always interested in modal playing. I was sort of skeptical though, having never heard about David Gross before, but I still decided to try this product.
His simple, methodical approach is very much suited to my learning style. He demonstrates the use of each mode using the E major scale as a reference, showing the chords and arpeggios associated with each mode, and shows sample musical pieces in each one. Very useful.
One important factor with this video is that David slows and breaks down all his examples, so you are not lost trying to figure out what the heck he's doing. Anyone who has bought "instructional" videos before can testify that many of those guys out there basically show off their skills and lecture you without you having learned much, if anything. This guy is different in that area. Nothing fancy, pretty simplified, easy to digest.
The video gets four stars for David's good content focus and teaching approach. The split-screen shots of left and right hands is very useful as well. Good work, David!
Yeah Man!"
Well Done

"This DVD was very helpful to me. I am basicly self-taught, coming to bass via guitar. Consequently, I knew more about playing chords and licks of of records, but something was missing. These lessons helped me to make sense out of things I was unsure of: scales and scale modes.
It is easy enough to work your way through it on a laptop or, I suppose, your DVD player. David C. Gross is easy to comprehend, logical and concise in his instructional approach. I have just sent for volume two of this set. I'm glad I found it."
