I very much enjoyed this movie and appreciated the "happy ending" even though I seriously doubt that such a happy ending could have really taken place in the real world of 1950's America. I think the story better suits a bit later time period, say the late sixties. The story is about a young girl whose mother dies, leaving both the little girl and her father, respectfully, without a mother or wife. The father must eventually return to work and thus needs to find a nanny for his daughter, who hasn't uttered a word since the death of her mother. Then enters Corrina, a very colorful (in more than one respect) young woman who applies for the job of nanny. The nanny, played wonderfully by Whoopi Goldberg, of couse gets the job - no spoiler there. Thus begins the touching and comic adventures of this newly defined "family". In my opinion, the casting and directing for this movie were perfect and what actually makes the film such a joy to watch. I predict viewing this film will bring many smiles and laughter, along with a few tears to boot. I rate this film an overall 4-stars. 2 of 2 member(s) found this review helpful.
