The Great Clint Black at His Best

(5 out of 5 stars)
"Clint Black shot through the roof when he made his debut on the country music scene in 1989. Here was someone country music desperately needed - not only was a a hardcore country singer in an era of "Vegas" country stars but he wrote some of the most well-crafted songs of the era, many a strong intellectual, thoughtful sensibility. For several years he was a big as any country star. Alas, contemporary country music has taken a horrendous turn for the worst since the late '90's where not much of it is really country and certainly very little of it expresses any intelligence or creativity. Out with the bookish and in with the boorish. You certainly will not hear such thoughtful country songs as "Loving Blind", "We Tell Ourselves", or "Something That We Do" at the top of the country charts today. Our guy Clint still is on the scene although with far less promenience but he is still barely 40 and if country music ever wises up, he can again lead the pack in "smart" country music in both senses of the word. These are 10 videos from his peak RCA years and they run the gamut from comic to moody and show vividly show Clint Black is one of the true artists in the country music industry.
