Yes, there once was a time when white actors put on blackface and acted out racist skits and scenes in the movies. I would recomend this DVD only for true film collectors or film history instructors. It's hard to believe that this film was considered mainstream entertainment back then, but it was. Shocking and offensive to today's audiences, some little company has dug it up from someplace and will make a few bucks on it. I did not find it funny. I found it very condescending and a reminder that we have come so far as a country. Still, I'm against censorship and believe we should be able to watch any film, no matter what the subject matter is. Amos and Andy was a huge radio hit at the time and they even tried to remake it in 1992 with Nic Cage and Samuel L. Jackson. They simply changed one name to Andrew!
