"Its Funny how they are coming out with collection, as my wife and I were talking about this a few months ago. We told each other how nice it would be if they would come out with a DVD with all the Mater Toons on it. My son loves these shorts, and since we had to reduce over TV package, he isn't able to see them anymore. Now, he will be able to watch them whenever he wants. They are so funny, and I can't wait to see his reaction when he sees this. He asks us about these toons everytime he watches Cars, so now I can tell him he can watch them again. Great idea by Disney to release this."
Fun, Long-Form Toy Commercials!

"I'm gonna call this for what it is. Its a series long-form commercials to sell Cars toys. Hey, if anyone can do it, its Pixar. At least they're entertaining and they didnt mail it in...at least entirely. I do have to laugh when I see toys being sold for a character (or one of the million variations of Mater or McQueen) that is on-screen for literally 3 or 4 seconds. (Monster truck mater toys, I'm looking at you.)
At just over a half hour total, if your little one is into Cars like mine is, likely you're bound to put this on repeat and let it loop a couple times. But what's lacking in quantity is made up for in quality. Yes its a shameless and gratuitous promotions for Cars toys. Buts its very, very, VERY well done. I dont mind the pitch as long as I'm entertained. Tokyo Mater is the longest at 6 minutes, and its an absolute riot. The rest only clock in at around 3 minutes each, which is short even by classic cartoon standards (about 7 minutes i would think is a good average for a short). They are fun, but they feel just a tad too short and leave you waiting for more.
Maybe this is the new vogue in advertising, long form commercials that the viewer has to pay for! But dont let that sway you from buying it. It's really a fun, short little DVD that the family will love. Just dont bring your kid down the Cars aisle in the store after watching, or you'll likely go bankrupt."
