Vince Vaughn does well in this serious role about a common man put in extraordinary and unfortunate circumstances. The movie is gritty and not for the squeamish. How Vaughn's character ends up making the choice that lands him in prison is an odd one, and probably the weakest point in an otherwise very well-written movie with interesting characters. Jennifer Carpenter is the most believable and a great choice for the role. Vaughn's recognizability unfortunately works against the film for those who are familiar with him, but he very nearly gets there - certainly anyone not familiar with Vaughn's appearance would see him as an entirely different actor. He does an excellent job in the fight scenes, which appears to be an untapped talent for an actor with his film history.

Vince Vaughn at his best as a bad guy that people want to root for. Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter series) played her role well as Vaughn's wife. You just won't like Don Johnson in this movie but he has an important part to play. Outstanding plotline that keeps you wondering what is going to happen next. Vaughn plays a brawler that you do not mess with!!!
