"These are good solid family episodes, but if you already own the 31-DVD set, you already have them: The Avenger. -- Last Trophy. -- Dark Star. -- Spitfire. -- Abduction. -- Courtship. -- Escape to the Ponderosa. -- The Ape. -- Blood on the Land. -- Badge Without Honor. -- The Hopefuls. -- Denver McKee. -- The Fear Merchants. -- Gunman. -- Bitter Water. -- The Mill. -- The Blood Line. -- Death at Dawn. -- Day of Reckoning. -- Desert Justice.4 stars for being another release of the same eps we see over and over. Sure wish someone would put out the comedies like Woman of Fire, The Hayburner, Ponderosa Matador, Bank Run, The Wooing Of Abigail Jones, Hoss & the Leprechauns, Easter Bunny Crossing . . ."

"These are among the usual assortment of episodes that are shown over and over on various cable and satellite channels. They are also among the only episodes avaialbe anywhere on DVD--those that were allowed to fall into the public domain. The quality of these presentations on this DVD is good with excellent clarity and good color. These have probably not been ditigally restored, but play as well as any you'll see on television today. These 20 episodes also DO have the opening titles with the original Ponderosa map burning and the original theme music, as well as the original closing credits. Nothing is missing or substituted on these DVD's. 20 episodes at this price makes this set a real bargain. One can only hope that whomever owns the copyright on the rest of the episodes decides to release then on DVD in the future. But considering that such popular western series as The Wild Wild West and Gunsmoke are not on DVD, don't hold your breathing waiting for more Bonanzas."
Quality DVD for a wonderful price!

"This is a must have for any Bonanza fan. Many episodes from the early Adam years. Has the original Bonanza theme which is important to many die hard Bonanza fans. Episodes included in this set are: The Avenger, The Last Trophy, The Hopefuls, Denver McKee, Dark Star, Spit Fire, The Fear Merchants, Abduction, Courtship, Bitter Water, The Mill, Escape To The Ponderosa, The Ape, The Blood Line, Death At Dawn, Blood On The Land, Badge W/O Honor, Day Of Reckoning, and Desert Justice. You can't go wrong with this set."
The answer to the "31 Episode" question...

"The 31 episodes here are the ones that were not copyrighted properly....and have become "public domain" titles. That's why you'll find tons of companies putting them out. (Some episodes have a producers logo in the lower left corner of the screen, to help prevent copying.) You'll also notice that the copyrighted Bonanza theme music is gone (substituted with generic western music), so the DVD company doesn't have to pay the music publisher for its use. That's also why these things are relatively cheap to buy. The quality of the picture and sound on these episodes is pretty good, however."
