Boiler Room could almost be considered a pseudo-educational film. Its title tells you exactly what the movie is about, and then proceeds to explain how an illegal stock trading operation is run via the voice over of the main character as he also learns through experience. An engaging film provided you put on your thinking cap and pay attention as the plot unfolds. The characters are mostly used to support the story concept, however Giovanni's role provides a believable if simplistic reason for getting involved in a Boiler Room con with good intentions. A good film on the subject that doesn't use cheap thrills or low-brow writing.
