"If your looking for a older movie about high school to watch " My Bodyguard" is your movie.
The movie is based around Clifford, a high schooler who moves to a rougher and old school. While the school bully Moody harasses him relentlessly, Clifford calls upon the mysterious Ricky Linderman to protect him from Moody by being his bodyguard. It works for awhile but Moody retaliates and you'll have to watch the movie to find out how!
It draws you into the storyline making you wish there was more. Does Clifford prevail in the end or does the bully Moody defeat Ricky the bodyguard and continue taking lunch money and everything else a bully does! Watch the movie to find out!"

"How many of us know what it's like to be the new kid in school? Or be the kid that some punks like to pick on for no good reason? Well I sure do & that's why I enjoy this movie. I can sympathize with the fictional character of Clifford Peache (newcomer Chris Makepeace). My own experiences never resulted in a fistfight but the threat was always there. It was more verbal intimidation than anything else. In fact I even got a few paddlings from my teachers because of these idiots-& they always caused the trouble not me! Clifford has been transferred from Chicago's Southside Academy to a public high school-where things are less sheltered as the school principal warns Clifford after Mr. Peache(Martin Mull)phones the school & only causes Cliff more trouble. Seems that Cliff caused the trouble by sassing Melvin Moody(Matt Dillon). Later Cliff enlists the aid of Ricky Linderman(Adam Baldwin no relation to acclaimed actor Alec Baldwin) a supposedly psycho tough guy everyone is terrified of-including Moody. Later things really get hot when Moody hires a bodyguard(Hank Salas)too! In the meantime Linderman finally warms up to Clifford & they become close friends. Ok you can guess the exciting ending of the story without me telling you. But if a buddy hadn't told me what a great movie this is back in 1980-who knows? I give credit to the filmmakers for the casting. The teenagers look like real teenagers instead of 30 year olds plastering their faces with makeup. I mean to say this movie reflects its time period nicely without being phony or overacting by any of the cast. I do wonder though whatever became of Chris Makepeace & Adam Baldwin? I don't think they made many more films after My Bodyguard. The extra tv spots & trailer made good bonuses. Picture & sound quality on this dvd are excellent too. I'll enjoy this one for a long time to come!"

""My Bodyguard" is an older film that is fun to watch. It's not an Academy Award worthy film, just an old fashioned film.
This film is about high school student Clifford Peache (Chris Makepeace) who is a new student at Lake View High School. He is hassled his first day by bully Melvin Moody. Clifford came from a private school, so he is not used to a public school. However, after the first day of being hassled, Clifford's dad calls the school principle, which makes things worse. In Clifford's home-room at school, he learns that presumed killer/bad guy Ricky Linderman (Adam Baldwin) is in the same class.
As the bullying gets worse from Moody, Clifford decides to approach Linderman. In doing so, Clifford asks him to be his bodyguard. After originally turning Clifford down, he finally accepts. This ends the bullying from Moody for some time, until Moody gets a bodyguard who is bigger then Linderman.
Overall, "My Bodyguard" is an old-fashioned film that is very entertaining.
