A larger than life story which grows more larger as the story progresses. A young man, haunted by his father's inability to "tell the truth", finds a new truth when his father is taken ill. Forced to face his father and his stories the young man must journey into his father's past to see who he truly was.
A beautifully told story.

This film is beautiful! I could watch it on mute. It's the kind of visual masterpiece we expect from Tim Burton, only it's not dark and foreboding. It's amazing and lovely!

I love this movie since the first time I saw it. The Big imagination of an old man remembering his whole life is the plot of the story. His only son wants to know the "truth" because he never believe his father's stories. When his father is dying, is the best opportunity to ask for what really happen in real life...and at the end you will find the Big surprise!
This movie is about a relationship between father and son...about their discrepancies and different points of view. Is about understanding and tolerance. Friendship and family. But most of all, this one is about love, life and happiness.

This is a film that didn't get nearly the attention it deserved. There are wonderful performances, rich production with great attention to details and a sweet story about the truths and myths of family and coming to terms with the complicated emotional realities of your life.
I think this will be one of those films like "The Wizard of Oz" that will become a classic fable and one day people will not believe what humble beginnings it had.
