"In the darkly-lit and hard to follow BIG CITY BLUES, two Miami-based hitmen, a call girl and a pair of 'queens' barely miss meeting. Within the space of a few hours their lives converge at an apartment and a deadly shootout is the result.
Of especial interest to 1960s-70s rock music fans in this PULP FICTION (1994) knockoff is a cameo by DONOVAN Leitch. Note: watch for some dancing human frogs-- these alone are worth the price of admission.... well... maybe not.....
OK then, check out 'Bridgette Buttercup' as play-for-pay Angela's very own doppelganger... In all seriousness, Giancarlo Esposito, who was the anarchistic highlight of Spike Lee's DO THE RIGHT THING (1989) is equally fine here. Burt Reynolds fans will not be disappointed with his grizzled button man portrayal.
This offbeat and often darkly-photographed movie may take more effort to fully comprehend than it merits.
Parenthetical number is a 1 to 10 imdb user poll rating.
