"Spencer Leigh takes us on a guided tour of Hamburg's Beatles related sites. We are shown the Museum of Hamburg History's "Hamburg Sound" exhibit, led to the nightclubs where the Beatles performed (Indra, Top Ten, Kaiserkeller, & Star-Club), and speak with collectors and performers about The Beatles and the "Hamburg Sound." This DVD runs about two and a half hours long and at the slow pace one might expect from a guided tour. If your are a big fan of the very early Beatles or the Mersey Sound you may enjoy this informative disc. The Beatles may be the main attraction that leads people to Hamburg but after viewing the DVD one gets the feeling that they were just one of many formidable groups on the Hamburg scene. Missing from the DVD are actual samples of Hamburg inspired music which is unfortunate. But if you've ever wanted to visit the birthplace of the Beatles/Mersey sound this DVD is a good place to start. Listening to Kingsize Taylor is a real treat. There is also a Hamburg DVD put out by Mastersound which is equally as good."
