"I have two girls - a 3yr old and a 5 1/2 yr old. Neither have taken ballet lessons before. We've had this video for about three months and the girls watch it (and have ballet class!) at least twice a week. I wanted to enroll the girls in a beginner ballet class, but it didn't work with our schedule. This video is really good for introducing the basic things you would probably encounter in a beginning ballet class. The moves are clearly demonstrated and explained, then you practice what was just taught. The video is divided into two halves. In the first half, each move is explained, demonstrated, then practiced. In the second half, the "class" moves through the steps taught, without the instructor demonstrating, just like you would in a ballet class. Both the 3 yr old and 5.5 yr old have been able to understand and learn the moves. I was looking for a traditional ballet class video and I've been very happy with Baby Ballet. (We don't have a ballet barre at our home, we just use the kitchen chairs for barre work and do the class barefoot in our family room.) Both girls are starting to do some of the moves around the house when the tape isn't on, so I think the material is age appropriate."
Informative new ways to teach ballet

"As a dance teacher, I was impressed with the way this video gave some good ideas and new ways to approach movements. The movements were actual dance moves, not just "hop around like a bunny rabbit". I would say this video is perfect for a mature child, and possibly one that has had a little bit of dance beforehand, but nothing that a child without a dance background couldn't master. My only wish is that all of the children in my classes were as well behaved and as smart as the children on the videos!"

"My 3 year old granddaughter kept telling all of us, she wants to be a ballerina. I thought, before putting her in a ballet class, I'd see if I could buy a dvd that would teach her the basics to see how she would do. This dvd did just that. She loves it."
"I bought this DVD for my 3 year-old niece. It looks like someone taped it at their daughter's dance lesson, but my neice loves it! She has watched it over and over again and does the exercises right along with the dancers. All in all, I'd give it a "2" for cinematography and a "10" for doing what it was designed to do-pique her interest in ballet."
Not baby ballet

"This is a great tape for an older child, but my daughter is 3 and a lot of the steps and moves are to difficult for her level. However, she does have a lot of fun tring to do the moves. So if you are purchasing this tape for your childs enjoyment it is a good tape, but I wouldn't expect many children under 4 or 5 to master the steps."
