This was a good movie, much the way I remembered it when I saw it in the hteater 34 years ago. I kept remembering the story and had to go to a movie website and ask if anyone knew the name of it. The guy that answered thought it was strange I described all the main parts of the movie but couldn't remember the name of it.
Anyway, this is a good movie about a boy and an unusual indian tribe. A die hard cowboy/indian buff (my dad) may have complaints but he said he liked it too. And, he had never seen it. That is about the best angle of this movie, many "Western" fans can name MANY Westerns and classic cowboy and indian movies but this was an odd ball that just didn't catch anyone's attention. It would make a good gift for just that type of person because they probably haven't seen it.
Richard Boone is a classic Richard Boone character. Anyone who likes Westerns will recognize him right off. He isn't the main character though. He may be listed first in the credit but the main character is the boy (I'm guessing that is Stewart Peterson). I recognized the boys face, I have seen him in something else (and he was good) but I can't think of the movie to make a reference.
