In this quirky romantic comedy about love and fate, a young greeting card writer (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is hopelessly, helplessly searching for the girl of his dreams...and his new co-worker, Summer Finn (Zooey Deschanel),... more » may just be ?the one.? But the 500 days of their offbeat relationship reveal (in no particular order) that the road to happiness can be unpredictable, uncontrollable?and unbelievably funny!

There was too much back and forth in this movie. It made it hard to follow at times. I love Joseph Gordon Levitt, but this wasn't one of his best movies.

This is one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while. It is definitely a romantic comedy but it's not the sugary sweet cutesy type of romantic comedy. Part of what makes this movie so great is that it shows what a rollercaster ride a relationship can be. Everyone can relate to the awkward, ridiculous, confusing, and amazing moments that ensue over those 500 days.

WOW,I LOVED IT! THIS MOVIE GOES THROUGH ALL THE FEELINGS YOU GO THROUGH ALL THE GREAT STUFF!!!IT CAPTURES THE FEELINGS ONE GETS PERFECTLY! RIGHT FROM THE START WHEN YOU GET A CRUSH, GET TO KNOW THE PERSON, FALL IN LOVE BIG TIME, HAVE A GREAT RELATIONSHIP, AND THEN, AND THEN, THEY JUST WANT TO BE FRIENDS, LEAVING YOU STILL THINKING OF THE GREAT STUFF HAVING THE GREAT FEELINGS AND SEEING THEM EVERYWHERE. BUT AS YOU KNOW ITS NOT A LOVE STORY AND THEY WARN YOU FROM THE BEGINNING, BUT LIKE LIFE YOU GET LEAD ON EASILY. THE GUY IS SO CUTE, AND ZOOEY PLAYS A GREAT PART TOO. SOMETIMES YOU WONDER WHAT HE SEES IN HER BUT OBVIOUSLY YOU CANT HELP WHO YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH AND HE FALLS IN LOVE WITH HER EVEN THOUGH WE MAY THINK HE CAN DO BETTER, HE DOESN'T WHICH MAKES A GREAT LOVE MOVIE! WOOPS I STILL CALL IT A LOVE STORY HE HE HE...ANYWAYS YOU'LL FALL IN LOVE WITH THE FALLING IN LOVE PART. OH YEAH, AND THANK GOODNESS THERE ARE NO GROSS SCENES OR BAD LANGUAGE WHICH I CANT STAND IN MOVIES. =)

This movie had me hooked from the begining. The narrator does an awesome job, and tells you this is boy meets girl, but this is not a love story. One reviewer hated Zooey's character. I did not. I thought she was perfect, she was honest. Supporting characters make this movie and zooeys characters come to life. I loved the ending. I loved the non linear way of telling this story, on how they met, how they broke up, his wallowing days after the break up, and all in between.

I didn't care much for this movie, I found Zooey's character, Summer, to be completely unlikable and that ruined it for me.

Loved this movie. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has grown up into quite the comedic actor. The acting is good on everyone's part, but the story is really great. This movie would be a nice pick-me-up for someone going through a break-up.

"In this hip dramedy (an official pick of the 2009 Sundance Film Festival), a young greeting card writer (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) falls head over heels for his new coworker, Summer Finn (Zooey Deschanel). She just may be "The One." Through the 500 days of their relationship, the viewer watches these two characters grow with each other as they learn about life, love and hope. In a series of flashbacks the story unfolds hopping from sweet, romantic and funny moments to devastatingly, desperate and sad ones - all leading to the ultimate lesson that finding one's soul mate is no easy task. An entertaining musical scene is sure to leave you smiling."
Young love at its sweetest and darkest points

"I loved this film that is so cute and honest in its storytelling and background music. It is a love story about two young people who find their way in a big city from a small town. They are young and bright eyed but also seriously under-employed. Young man is an architect who happens to work in a greeting card company, composing designs and text for the Hallmark like card. A young woman, pretty and free spirited is employed as assistant in the same place.
Story is told in non-linear fashion and it mingles the start of their love affair as well as the end of it and a hartbreak of a young man. The story is told from his point of view and it is peppered by beautiful music (of the anti-establishment kind, i.e. "Smiths") and deep, raw emotion.
I find film to be honest and sincere and for that reason, I really liked the story. My take is that this is one of the better romantic movies ever and it fits every generation."
