Action from the opening shot to the closing shot. Performances could have been worked on a little better but the cinematography outshines any fault finding. 41/2 out of five.

With 300, a movie based on a comic by Frank Miller based on a real-life war, Zack Snyder really came into his own! Although Zack had done previous work, 300 cemented him as the go-to-guy on comic book movie adaptations. He has a flair for directing that lends itself perfectly to that medium. The surreal quality of the movie enhances the great story and created a trademark style that hasn't been so widely known since the effects of the Matrix!
The story is about a group of 300 Spartan warriors who refuse to surrender to the Persian army that is preparing to add Greece to it's empire. Taking a small group of 300 men into a pass that separates Greece from the Persians, King Leonidas (portrayed by uber-buff Gerard Butler) tries to hold the pass until the rest of Greece will fall in behind the Spartans and protect their freedom from the empire-loving Persians. What ensues is a gory, stylized war the likes of which viewers had never seen! A landmark movie that put Zack Snyder and Gerard Butler on the map...and made buff Greek guy movies popular again!

could have been better, but they injected too much fantasy in it, with a war rhino, a guy with claw hands, a hob goblin, Spartans fighting bare breasted, cartoon graphical war scenes, Xerxes as someone from another planet

Another comic book film taht does a great job of capturing the look and feel of it's source material. Frank Miller's graphic novel 300 is amazing and this film is also. Keep in mind that this film is not ment to be an accurate account of historical events. Quite a few people have been ranting about how this film is an insult to Iran.
