After seeing the original 300, I was pretty let down with this one. Felt alot like the future Spartacus Seasons where they could not get it right with the feel of a great original.

A sequel to "300" which introduced us to Gerald Butler, this one 'Rise of an Empire' stands up on its own, and is surprisingly well done. It's basically Ancient Greece vs. Ancient Persia. Huge, epic battles, beautiful women, and LOTS of CGI. In fact, the entire film must have been shot with green screens. The result is very realistic. Today's audiences have been a bit spoiled with technology, but this actioner rocks. A word of caution: This is an extremely graphic film. It is remarkable that it earned just the 'R' rating. It could easily have been given an NC-17 for the violence alone.( or the rape scene!)A glorious bloodbath with geysers of blood, gushing and splattering, at times directly into the lense! Amazing decapitations and Slo-Mo killings and slashings. On land and on the sea, the action is relentless. If you enjoy sword and sandal epics, this one's for you. Outstanding musical score, too!
