The DVD also includes three videos not featured in the original release: "These Are Days," "Candy Everybody Wants" and "Because The Night" from the band's triumphant MTV Unplugged. Time Capsule is the definitive history of 10,000 Maniacs and a potent reminder of the band's artistry and vision. In the words of the band's classic song, "these are days you'll remember..."« less
"This is a good compilation of nearly all the major videos 10,000 Maniacs released with Natalie Merchant... and then some. I was delighted to see video clip representations of songs that I knew, but never knew existed on video.... "Wildwood Flower" is such a gem. It is great to see a video for that song. I like the little cow on the dashboard. You gotta see the video.
As I mentioned the major video hits are here including the wonderful signature song "Like the Weather" and the Maniacs' "Unplugged" hit version of "Because the Night," truly Natalie's great swan song as she departed the group shortly after.
About the only thing I am disappointed with is that I know there is a video for "Peace Train" that I used to like to watch on the old TBS video show "Night Tracks." As I vaguely recalled it featured Natalie and the group floating on some raft in the middle of a river. Too bad this will be a lost gem forever it seems.
For that reason I can only give this collection 4 stars."
Amazed it's on DVD, but thrilled!

"This was a very happy surprise for me. Any fan of Natalie Merchant or 10,000 Maniacs needs to own this DVD. It isn't all "videos" its home movie clips, raw and amature performances of the group you love!!! Plus it is in 5.1 dolby digital. You will not be sorry."
If you are a fan of Natalie Merchant then . . .

"A fun look back at 10,000 Maniacs and Natalie Merchant. It's a kick to see NM in the early years. Particularly entertaining in this regard are the live clips of "My Mother the War" and "Scorpio Rising". The paradoxically self absorbed/self conscious/wild abandon of her performance, (indecipherable lyrics and all) - is utterly charming. While I found some of the early videos to be amaturish, "Candy Everybody Wants" and "Like The Weather" were very well done and easy on the eyes. The footage with "Trouble Me" shows Merchant's compassion for the human condition. Particularly touching is the live footage of "Dust Bowl", not only for the heart wrenching lyrics and incredible vocal by Merchant, but also for the beautiful guitar work by deceased Maniac Rob Buck, who co-wrote the music. There are some weak parts on this DVD, but the best parts far outweigh this. After all, it is a retrospective, and if you are as charmed by NM as I admit to be, then get this by all means."
Very Enjoyable

"I'm embarrassed that I barely listened to this band very much despite growing up and listening to lots of music in the 80's. I always knew their popular songs, but never bought any albums or sought out anything beyond the stuff the radio spoon fed me. For that reason I decided to buy this DVD along with the "Campfire" greatest hits CD.
I really enjoyed this DVD as it gave a nice glimpse into the Maniacs throughout the majority of their career. The song list is more or less a greatest hits type deal, but there are some songs on here for the more serious fan. The videos and concert footage were really good, however, there could have been more supplemental interviews or commentary from band members to really tie the chronology together. Also, at just over an hour, there was obviously a lot of great material that was omitted. At the end of the DVD I was very satisfied with what I purchased. I'll definitely watch it again several more times in the future, and I certainly recommend it to any 10,000 Maniacs fan considering picking it up."
Classic, now on DVD

"And, there's not much to say, if you're a fan of Natalie or the band. This has everything the previous video had, plus three additional videos. if you like the video that preceded it this Time capsule will allow you to recall, and relive, some great moments when Natalie was at her peak -- with Robert Buck and the band by her side.
the video transfer was done exceptionally well and the material has never looked better the additions make it a must own, so what the waiting for?
the other reviewers have said pretty much all there is to say: I will add, you should own this if you're a fan of Natalie or the band. It's just that simple. it'll make one a little bit sad since the band is no longer around to make great music, and we are all a bit older too.
